Master Mortezaie-Asl has over 25 years experience in martial arts. He has studied over five different styles of martial arts and has received a black belt in every style and went on to receive higher ranks in some. His eldest brother, also a master, enrolled Master Asl and his sister into Tae Kwon Do at the early age of two in California. For five consecutive years, they breathed, practiced and learned about the techniques in Tae Kwon Do as a family. His brother made sure Master Asl practiced his martial arts on a daily basis, while continuing to teach him different martial arts styles at home.
When Master Asl moved from California to Texas, he enrolled in a school of karate and kickboxing. At the age of thirteen, he had learned all he could from the school and began competing. After becoming a national champion, Master Asl began studying Hapkido and Kung Fu. Simultaneously, he trained at a different school for Judo/Jiu Jitsu and Grappling.
By the age of 15, his Grand Master introduced Gum Do into his daily practice. At 18 years old, he already held a variety of black belts in Kung Fu, Hapkido, Tae Kwon Do, Judo/Jiu Jitsu and Karate. However, his thirst for more still felt unfulfilled until he started competing again at the early age of 23; at which point, he was already a national champion. Now at an older age, it was time for the next level. At first, Master Asl only competed at the national and regional levels, but soon after he began competing internationally and winning in almost every competition. Due to injuries, Master Asl could no longer compete.
He started ASL JunSur to replace his competition days and pass on his knowledge and wisdom to our community.
